BlackBerry 10 With This In-Browser Demo
Curious about BlackBerry 10? Of course you are, even if just a little bit. Direct your mobile browser to blackberry.com/glimpse for, well, a glimpse at BlackBerry 10.
The in-browser experience isn’t a full emulation, but rather just a demo of BB10′s user interactions and popular features. It works well, guiding the user through all the swiping and sliding that is BlackBerry 10.
BlackBerry 10 is a fantastic take on a mobile OS. I like it. But the trick is getting people to use it. BlackBerry needs to get BlackBerry 10 into the hands of power users now. They can’t wait until these people wander into a phone store and randomly pick up a Z10. The platform needs traction now, hence this clever demo.
This experience is likely part of the ad campaign revealed by Forbes. While effective as a destination point, I maintain my statement that if deployed as a pop-up mobile ad, it will piss off more users than it’s worth.
